6 of the biggest OMG cameos in the movies #Zoolander2

screen-poster

Seen the Zoolander 2 trailer? Bowled over by the eyebrow-less Benedict Cumberbatch? Still tickled by Justin Bieber's death-selfie? One thing's for sure: Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson's fashionista comedy sequel is packing in the cameo roles by the catwalk-load.

So on that note, we picked some of our favourite and most unexpected cameos from the movies. These were literally the moments that made us go: OMG!

1) Bill Murray in Zombieland

The Jesse Eisenberg/Woody Harrelson/Emma Stone zom-com is already a memorably hilarious treat by the time that Ghostbusters royalty Murray rocks up as himself. He's disguised himself as a zombie in order to stay alive (and play golf), something that leads to one of the most hilarious demises in recent movie history. It's surely one of the most brilliantly twisted and self-effacing cameos of all time – but what do we expect from Bill?

2) Michael Jackson in Men in Black II

Yes that's right, the King of Pop does turn up in the somewhat maligned Men in Black sequel, albeit so briefly that we weren't quite sure if it was him or a very good impersonator. But it was the genuine article. Jacko was reportedly such an enormous fan of the first movie that he called Will Smith personally and requested a cameo in the sequel.

In an indication of Jacko's rather wicked sense of humour, he appears on a monitor playing an alien – without any make-up. Now that's what we call self-deprecating.

3) Mike Tyson in The Hangover

This boozy, blokey comedy centres around a group of hapless guys who must figure out the events of the night before after getting completely trollied in Sin City. It's all a bit predictable – bar the utterly bizarre moment where controversial boxer Mike Tyson turns up in their hotel suite crooning Phil Collins hit 'In the Air Tonight'. There is a reason why Tyson appears as himself (the guys stole his tiger whilst drunk) but it's still darned strange.

4) Jarvis Cocker in Fantastic Mr. Fox

Director Wes Anderson's delightful stop-motion adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic novel has enough oddball humour and visual artistry to keep the kids entertained. But the moment where musician Jarvis Cocker appears doing a sing-song around a campfire performing 'Petey's Song' is definitely for the grown-ups. Or just dyed-in-the-wool Pulp fans. Of which Anderson clearly is one.

5) Vanilla Ice in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze

Most have tried to block this utter cheese-fest from their mind, most notably those who grew up with the Turtles comics and cartoons. Surely the nadir of the movie (yes, even worse than the utterly lifeless rubber turtle suits) is the moment where rapping sensation (at least at the time) Vanilla Ice appears on-stage. But it gets even worse when he coaxes the Turtles into dancing with him. No! Just no!

6) Hulk Hogan in Gremlins II: The New Batch

Joe Dante's manic sequel to his 1984 black comedy classic ups the Gremlins and the set-pieces as the mischievous monsters this time take over an entire skyscraper. But that's not the weirdest part.

In a movie stuffed with telling in-jokes and appearances (horror legend Christopher Lee plays the sinister Dr. Catheter), none drops the jaw more than pro-wrestler Hulk Hogan who offers a defiant message to the gremlins invading a movie theatre: "Do I have to come up there myself? Do you think the Gremsters cannot stand up to the Hulkster?!"
