Not quite convinced by next year's Ghostbusters reboot? How would you feel if we said one of the original stars is on board? No, before you ask, it isn't Bill Murray. But it is someone equally prestigious: Sigourney Weaver.

Ghostbusters director Paul Feig (who scored a massive comedy hit this year with Spy) has confirmed via Twitter that the Oscar nominated Aliens actress, who played love interest Dana Barrett in the original two movies, is set to make a cameo appearance in his much-hyped, female-led reboot.

Weaver is set to join the new cast, headed up by Feig regular Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon, all of whom play the new Ghostbusters combating the supernatural scourge of New York. Chris Hemsworth plays their secretary and original Ghostbusters alumnus Ernie Hudson is also set to make a cameo.

What do you think – will Weaver's presence serve to make the movie even more spook-tacular? We'll find out when Ghostbusters is released on 15th July. In the meantime, here's a gloriously scary reminder of one of her most memorable scenes from the 1984 classic.
