Meet the entourage from A Million Ways to Die in the West

We’ve already brought you a round-up of the lead actors from Seth MacFarlane’s new comedy-western-massacre A Million Ways to Die in the West, but what of the supporting players? With a list of high quality actors and comedy stalwarts, he’s really spoiling us. Allow me to introduce you…

Ruth (Sarah Silverman)

I have to admit a bias towards comedian Sarah Silverman. She is comedy gold – a sweet face with a foul mouth. She plays Ruth, the prostitute who will sleep with everyone in town, except her boyfriend – she’s waiting until they’re married, obviously. Having started on the legendary Saturday Night Live, she worked up to her own TV show, The Sarah Silverman Program, where she showcased her satirical take on racism, religion and sexism. Silverman is perfect for this role – witty raunch is her specialty, so she’ll fit right in.

Edward (Giovanni Ribisi)

Giovanni Ribisi has a long list of worthwhile films to his name (Ted, Saving Private Ryan, Lost in Translation, Avatar) but a lot of people might remember him best for his very funny turn as Phoebe’s brother in Friends. (Also as a creepy kid in The X-Files, but that might just be me.) His comic timing is put to good use here as Edward, who is dying to lose his virginity to his prostitute girlfriend, Ruth. In the trailer he delivers the deadpan line: “Please don’t shoot us on sex night.”

Foy (Neil Patrick Harris)

Owner of the local ‘moustachery’, Foy is the town jerk who steals MacFarlane’s girlfriend (played by Amanda Seyfried). Somewhere between mainstream fame and geek acclaim is Neil Patrick Harris. He won four Emmys for the much-loved sitcom How I Met Your Mother, and he has had several guest appearances on Family Guy, so he’s no stranger to MacFarlane’s brand of humour. We think he looks rather dapper.

“The American West is a terrible place and time,” says Albert (MacFarlane). “Everything out here that’s not you, wants to kill you.” We’re looking forward to seeing how many characters make it to the end of the movie. Is there a particular actor you’re looking forward to seeing?

A Million Ways to Die in the West is being unleashed at Cineworld on 30th May.
