A new TV spot for the forthcoming comedy western A Million Ways to Die in the West offers us a tantalising introduction to three of its main characters. Here’s a run-down…
Liam Neeson is donning his comedy hat for this film, but it looks like he will be taking a pretty deadpan approach to the role of the villainous Clinch. We don’t often see Neeson do comedy, but judging from his hilarious cameo in TV’s Life’s Too Short, I reckon he’s up to the challenge. Do you?
Charlize Theron gives good aim as expert gun-slinger Anna, who tries to teach Albert to shoot so that he can take on Clinch, the infamous criminal who also happens to be her husband. When she’s not hitting the bull’s eye, she manages to deflect Albert’s one-liners and deliver her own with great comic timing.
No prizes for guessing that this role belongs to our hero, Albert, played by the film’s director and writer Seth MacFarlane. This cowardly sheep farmer has to find his inner strength so that he can defeat the bad guy, save the day and get the girl. If you’re a fan of his hit TV show Family Guy and his first feature Ted, then you will recognize his familiar brand of humour, which manages to be filthy yet clever – with predictably hilarious consequences.
Joining this trio in the cast list are Giovanni Ribisi, Amanda Seyfried, and goddess of comedy Sarah Silverman. What do you think of the casting? Can Liam Neeson bring the funny? Tell us in the comments…
A Million Ways to Die in the West will hit Cineworld on 30th May.
