What's the story? Based on true events, this is a gripping dramatisation of an attempt to scale the world's tallest – and deadliest – mountain.

Why you need to see it: It's an all-star cast, headed by Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin and Southpaw's Jake Gyllenhaal, and also promises to be a nail-biting thrill-ride, plunging audiences into fierce blizzards and dangling them over huge crevasses – in awe-inspiring 3D. Given it's based on a real expedition, expect an avalanche of emotion too.

The Walk

What's the story? Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars in the extraordinary true story of a French trapeze artist who walked between the two towers of the World Trade Center.

Why you need to see it: Gordon-Levitt is one of our most popular and versatile movie stars, having delivered memorable performances in the likes of Looper, The Dark Knight Rises and his directorial debut Don Jon. Combine that with the visual style of Back to the Future and Forrest Gump director Robert Zemeckis and it promises to have you gripping your seat.

When is it out? 9th October 2015.


SPECTRE

What's the story? James Bond is in pursuit of a mysterious criminal organisation in the eagerly anticipated follow-up to Skyfall.

Why you need to see it: The film reunites the Skyfall dream team of Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes for what promises to be an even more spectacular adventure. With world-spanning locations, a story that delves further into 007's past and a cast including Christoph Waltz, Dave Bautista and Lea Seydoux, expectations are sky-high for the new Bond movie.

When is it out? 26th October 2015.


The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2

What's the story? Katniss Everdeen faces the final battle against the ruthless President Snow in the final part of the Hunger Games series.

Why you need to see it: This promises to be the most spectacular and exciting Hunger Games movie in the series as Katniss' struggles come to their epic conclusion. Jennifer Lawrence once again brings the emotion and the bravado and the sturdy supporting cast includes all the popular faces including Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Donald Sutherland, Julianne Moore and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman in his final movie role.

When is it out? 20th November 2015.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

What's the story? Director J.J. Abrams restores order to the Force with his sure-to-be-epic addition to the sweeping space saga.

Why you need to see it: Well, it's Star Wars. Enough said, surely? OK then – how about the fact that Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are back? The presence of the Millennium Falcon from the original trilogy? The hot young cast led by Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson and more? Director Abrams' insistence that the movie will use practical effects rather than CGI? Put simply – movies don't get bigger than this.
