Fast 7 actor Kurt Russell talks about the late Paul Walker

Veteran actor Kurt Russell describes the late, lamented Paul Walker as a "terrific guy".

The star, best known for movies like Escape from New York, The Thing and more recently Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof, is a new addition to the ensemble cast of Fast 7.

In light of Walker's tragic death in a car accident at the end of 2013, the Fast 7 script has been overhauled. The actor's character, former FBI agent turned street racer Brian O'Conner, was pivotal to four films in the series, something that Russell notes has caused a great deal of anguish behind the scenes.

"They're having to rewrite, they're having to do whatever they're having to do to deal with the situation," Russell explains. "It's the worst thing that could happen to a movie, but it's not as bad as what happened to Paul. So everything's in perspective."

Given the status of the script, details of Russell's character remain sketchy at this stage. But what about Walker's character? With production currently on hold, reports are circulating that the filmmakers may be opting to write him out of the script in as natural a way as possible. Stay tuned to the blog for updates as they come in.

Fast 7 is currently scheduled for release in April 2015
