The distant stomping sound you can hear is that of a beloved dinosaur franchise making its way back to Cineworld screens...

Jurassic World, the fourth film in the box office-shattering Jurassic Park series, arrives on 12th June 2015. Maestro Steven Spielberg, who helmed the first two movies, is handing the directorial baton over to Colin Trevorrow, best known for quirky time-travel comedy Safety Not Guaranteed.

Whereas Trevorrow's previous film earned critical plaudits, this is a different kettle of prehistoric fish entirely. Plot details are being kept under lock and key – but one thing that's generating dino-sized levels of excitement is the presence of Guardians of the Galaxy frontman Chris Pratt in the leading role. Trevorrow says he's an old-school hero in the best possible sense.

"He’s a classic hero in a very modern context," Trevorrow told IGN UK. "He’s the guy who will get you through the jungle alive – but like Malcolm, Grant and Sattler, he’s an expert in a scientific field that’s connected to our story."

It's truly Pratt's year – not only did he win over audiences as Peter Quill/Star Lord in the thrilling Marvel adventure but he also lent his voice to this year's most successful animation The LEGO Movie. The director says Pratt's character Owen fits in nicely with the spirit of rollicking adventure beloved by fans of the franchise.

"The character allows us to explore some new ideas about our relationship with these animals," he explains, "without losing the humor and sense of adventure."

Even so, we've got a while to wait before both Trevorrow and Pratt put their stamp on the series. So with that in mind, here's a classic scene from the first Jurassic Park movie.
