You might not have heard of Dakota Johnson until recently, but she will be all shades of famous when the film adaptation of the best-selling novel 50 Shades of Grey is released, in which she will play the female lead, Anastasia Steele.
Dakota seems to have got to grips with the material already. Talking to Entertainment Weekly about the book, she said, “I just really understand it. I think it’s an incredible love story.”
While Dakota is relatively unknown, the model and actor’s parents are household names Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson. Her first screen role was alongside her mother in Crazy in Alabama (1999).
She made a brief appearance in last year’s 21 Jump Street, and was Justin Timberlake’s one-night-stand in The Social Network. Her most recent role was as one half of the TV series Ben and Kate, but it’s her upcoming role as the inexperienced college student that’s sure to get people talking.
