Beetlejuice Beetlejuice: new posters and trailer for the Tim Burton sequel

The juice is loose in this September's long-awaited horror-comedy sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. As the title implies, we're about to get reacquainted with Michael Keaton's hilariously scuzzy bio-exorcist who last stalked the screen in 1988's Beetlejuice.

That film was directed by Tim Burton and the master of the macabre is back to helm the follow-up. That means memorably wonky set design, the knowing use of stop-motion, garish make-up effects, a carnivalesque Danny Elfman score and a general anything-goes atmosphere of morbidly funny mayhem. Here are some new posters to get you primed.

In order from left to right: Beetlejuice himself, Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz (Beetlejuice's nearly betrothed in the first film), Jenna Ortega as Astrid Deetz, Lydia's daughter, Catherine O'Hara as Delia Deetz, Lydia's mother, Bob, the memorable shrunken head guy from the end of the first movie, Justin Theroux as Rory, Monica Bellucci as Delores and Willem Dafoe as Wolf Jackson.

It's a sparkling ensemble of new and familiar faces, all of whom are clearly ready to get their ghostly groove on. The newly released trailer fills in more of the blanks, including Lydia's horror at coming face-to-face with Beetlejuice some 36 years after their initial encounter.

As mentioned, they were nearly married at the end of the first movie but newly undeads Adam and Barbara Maitland (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis, both seemingly absent from the sequel) intervened to help save the day. The story this time returns us to the Maitlands' house during which time they've presumably passed on.

As Lydia grapples with her dad's recent death, the recurring presence of the mischievous Beetlejuice promises to put a spanner in the works. Meanwhile, Ortega's presence will please fans of the Tim Burton-produced Addams Family spin-off series Wednesday.

Check out the trailer below. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is released on September 6th.
