Walt Disney Animation Studios has several new movies on the go. In addition to Raya and the Last Dragon, due for release in 2021, it's now announced Encanto. And the production has roped in Hamilton sensation Lin-Manuel Miranda to do the music. Before you go and fire up that Moana playlist (again), here are some more details about Encanto.
Revealed as part of Disney Investor Day, Encanto, in the words of the official synopsis, "takes you to Colombia, where a magical family lives in a magical home". The film is directed by Zootropolis filmmakers Byron Howard and Jared Bush, and co-directed and co-written by Charise Castro Smith. Meanwhile, the aforementioned Lin-Manuel Miranda (who also has musical adaptation In the Heights due in 2021) will be writing the songs.
