Were you lucky enough to attend Saturday's Secret Screening? If so, you'll have discovered that the mystery movie was Joy Ride, the riotous and hilarious new comedy starring Everything Everywhere All At Once scene-stealer Stephanie Hsu.
This upfront and frank comedy focuses on four young Asian-American women who embark on a madcap trip across the continent replete with gross-out gags, bonding and some genuinely poignant moments. The movie comes from the Seth Rogen/Evan Goldberg stable, both of whom know a thing or two about spearheading a high-concept comedy (Sausage Party et al), and it's directed by Adele Lim, screenwriter of the hit rom-com Crazy Rich Asians.
The talented cast of rising stars also includes Ashley Park (Emily in Paris), Sherry Cola (Good Trouble) and comedian Sabrina Wu. All in all, there are plenty of reasons to expect a rib-tickling good time when Joy Ride is released at Cineworld this August, and just to reinforce that point even further, here's a selection of the Secret Screening responses.
I enjoyed it for the most part. Some of the jokes didn’t really land, but the emotional core of the film was well told. Stephanie Hsu was brilliant, as always.

It was my 76th film of the year so far, and definitely in the top ten so far.

I've not laughed as much in a long time, I may just have to go and see it again with @quiffylaa31 when it gets released as she missed tonight's screening. Thank you Cineworld for the chuckle muscle workout 🤣🤣🤣

I was not expecting much but i was very surprised. I've not laugh that much at a movie in a long time. This one is going to get some high reviews. One I will have to see again. 9/10 will joy ride again.

You’re spoiling us with the #SecretScreenings. #JoyRide is a 10/10 comedy about friendship, identity and belonging, that packs a lot of heart in to the 3rd act.

That’s my film of the year, easily.
“Joy ride” was far better then I expected trailers didn’t look great but it ended up being one hell of a ride. The comedy throughout was brilliant and in the last 20-25 minutes of the movie it tackled some really serious stuff and as someone adopted myself I could relate to 8/10
