Barry Keoghan cements his status as a fearless and endlessly watchable actor in the new psychological black comedy Saltburn. He plays the isolated Oxford University student Oliver Quick who appears to find his 'people' when he's invited to the aristocratic stately pile known as Saltburn.
It isn't long before Oliver ingratiates himself into the life of his so-called new best friend, the aristocratic Felix (Jacob Elordi), and his family. But where does Oliver truly belong? And does he have some diabolical machinations up his sleeve? Anything goes in this devious and enjoyably lurid mixture of Evelyn Waugh and Patricia Highsmith, which comes from Promising Young Woman filmmaker Emerald Fennell.
Clad in stylish hues courtesy of cinematographer Linus Sandgren with a top mixture of mid-2000s needle drops and a starry supporting cast (Rosamund Pike and Richard E. Grant are just two of the big names), Saltburn has more than enough to arrest the attention. So, what did Unlimited members make of the movie when we threw open the doors and invited them to a special advance screening? Here's a selection of the responses.
Really enjoyed it, great cast and performances that added to the intrigue of the story. The cinematography looked perfectly framed in the 4:3 aspect ratio. #Saltburn is certainly a film that I'll gladly watch again.

Probably my second favourite film of the year after Past Lives. Dark, twisted and totally compelling, like watching Brideshead Revisited’s evil twin. The cast was superb and even when I realised where the film was going I still couldn’t quite believe it!!!! Astonishingly good

It was dark, full of very unlikable characters, goes in many different (sometimes unexpected) directions, and I absolutely LOVED every minute of it! Had high expectations and they were exceeded! Easily one of my favourite films of the year, and definitely best I've seen recently.

I was absolutely transfixed throughout. What an unexpectedly wild ride that was - it looked stunning and there were great performances all around, especially wonderful to see Richard E Grant! Perfect soundtrack too. I can understand why it's not for everybody but I had a blast.
