The proton packs are passed down to a younger generation in these new posters for Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The movie is directed by Jason Reitman (Juno), taking up the mantle of his father Ivan who directed the original films back in 1984 and 1989. Revealed by Sony UK, the one-sheets tease the multi-generational cast, led by youthful stars Finn Wolfhard and McKenna Grace as the phantom-fighting brother-sister duo of Trevor and Phoebe.
Upon moving to a dilapidated country farmhouse, Trevor and Phoebe discover they have important ancestral links to the original Ghostbusting team: they are the grandchildren of the late Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis), father of their mother Callie (Carrie Coon). When paranormal activity runs amok in their local town, the siblings must fire up the classic Ecto-1 automobile and partner with teacher Mr. Grooberson (Paul Rudd), who is old enough to remember the 1984 attack on New York by the malevolent spirit Gozer.
Nostalgia, ancestry, action and effects galore – it sounds like Reitman could be on to a winner. There's even a supermarket attack by miniature Stay Puft marshmallow men. This new Ghostbusters movie sidesteps the controversial Paul Feig reboot from 2016, acting as a direct continuation of the 1984 movie classic that made stars of Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd.
Several of the original team members are back, including Murray, Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson as Winston, Annie Potts as Jeanine and Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barrett. Ghostbusters: Afterlife is released on 19th November.
