Critically acclaimed comedy-drama Can You Ever Forgive Me? screened in advance for Unlimited members last night.
Melissa McCarthy and Richard E. Grant give Golden Globe and BAFTA-nominated performances in this true story of fraudulent biographer Lee Israel, so what did Unlimited members make of it?
We'll start with this from Jason Green who lauds the performances.
A great story, which made me sigh and left me warm. Richard E Grant was superb, doing the Richard he does do well, his eyes overflowing with feeling at times. Melissa embodied and created her character, superb.

Fully entertained, I loved it.
8/10
Onedottoomany says the film offers up one of the best buddy duos in recent memory.
loved it - career best for Melissa McCarthy & haven't seen Richard E Grant sink his teeth into a role that good in years. best character pairing in a long time, and nobody says "i love you" quite like Lee & Jack!

Austerity Gamer says that Grant fans will love it.
Like a cross between Midnight Cowboy and Withnail & I. @melissamccarthy and @RichardEGrant (my first man-crush at 16 years old after watching the criminally underrated #HowToGetAheadInAdvertising) were both EXCELLENT. Loved it.

Natalie says she went in unawares and was delightfully caught off-guard by the movie's blend of humour and pathos.
I love this type of #UnlimitedScreening, as I go knowing very little about the film or background and I’m hugely, pleasantly surprised. This was fantastic. Funny and sad in equal measure and absolutely fascinating

Henry Peters says it's possibly McCarthy's finest performance so far.
You shouldn’t really like Lee Israel, the main character in #CanYouEverForgiveMe but Melissa McCarthy makes her good fun to be around. Unbelievably what we see did actually happen. Nothing fake with this movie, unlike the letters Lee Israel forged.

And finally, WorldofBlackout finds it difficult to determine which of the two leads is the bigger scene-stealer...
#CanYouEverForgiveMe? was good, touching without being mawkish, and I wish McCarthy be cast in dramatic roles more often. Although someone needs to phone the police because Richard E. Grant is stealing every scene in that film...#CineworldUnlimited
