1. Privacy Policy

Cineworld is committed to ensuring that the privacy of your personal information (what we call “Information”) is protected. Cineworld Cinemas Limited is the “data controller” of your Information under UK privacy laws if your residential address is in the UK or the Channel Islands. Adelphi Carlton Limited is the “data controller” of your Information under Irish privacy laws if your residential address is in the Republic of Ireland. These two companies work together under the Cineworld brand to operate Cineworld cinemas and to provide the Cineworld services and products.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect Information about you, how we use the Information we collect, how you can instruct us if you prefer to limit the use of that Information and procedures that we have in place to safeguard the privacy of your Information.

By using our services (including registering on our websites or downloading one of our apps) you acknowledge that we will collect and use your Information as described in this Policy. Protecting your privacy is important to us and we aim to be as open as possible about how your Information is used. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully before submitting any of your Information to us. Some of our uses of your Information will be necessary for us to provide our services to you, and other uses will be with your consent. We aim to keep your Information only for as long as we need to for the purposes we’ve identified in this Privacy Policy.

2. Changes

If we change our Privacy Policy and/or procedures, we will post those changes on our websites to keep you aware of what Information we collect, how we use it and under what circumstances we may disclose it. 3. Users of our services

We welcome children and young people to our cinemas. However, when you purchase tickets from us we may ask your age, and if you’re buying on behalf of someone else for the age of the recipient, so we can ensure that access to age-restricted films is appropriately restricted. Our online bookings service, My Cineworld and online functions of our Unlimited Card scheme are intended for users aged 13 years and over, so please do not use these if you are under 13 years old.

By using our websites (which includes our mobile site and any Cineworld approved apps) and providing us with your Information, you acknowledge that we may collect and use your Information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Where you submit information (including information containing personal data) to us through our websites, by downloading one of our apps, or when you contact us, you confirm that, where you are providing details on behalf of someone else you have permission to do so and that you have read, and agree to, the terms of our Privacy Policy.

4. What information do we collect and how do we use it?

We collect Information from you:

  • when you purchase tickets, gifts and other products and services from us;
  • if you sign up to My Cineworld;
  • if you subscribe to our Unlimited Card scheme;
  • If you download one of our apps or interact with our social media pages (e.g. Twitter or Facebook);
  • if you contact our customer services team; or
  • if you respond to a survey or enter a competition (whether via our websites, an app or through social media).

We use that Information:

  • to provide our services to you;
  • to improve the services we provide and to tailor our products and services to you;
  • to get to know our customers better and the type of person who uses our services including by using third party data matching agencies (for example only, such as Facebook Custom Audiences) to help us identify similar customers to you;
  • to identify appropriate partners whose offers we might obtain for you as a Cineworld customer; and
  • to contact you about cinema, films and other goods and services we think you might be interested in, including those of our partners whose offers we’ve identified.

We collect more or less Information depending on which source we collect it from and which services you are using. We also collect details passively through cookies, log files and other technologies. More details of the types of Information we collect through General Bookings, My Cineworld and Unlimited are set out below and details of our passive collection of Information can be found in our Cookies Policy.

5. General Bookings, purchases and payments

Information we collect from you

If you wish to book tickets using our websites or otherwise, we will need to know some details about you such as your name and payment card details. We will also need your email address if you’re booking online. We may also need this information when you make any other purchases via our websites, such as ordering food, drink or 3D glasses. If you request a booking confirmation to be sent by SMS, we will also ask you to provide your mobile phone number.

If you contact us or have an enquiry we will keep a record of this which may include some of your Information depending on how you contacted us.

How we use this Information

We use this Information to allow us, our agents and sub-contractors who are working on our behalf, to process your booking, fulfil your orders and to send you service related emails (and where requested, text messages) for your booking.

We may also use these details to send you a follow-up email after your cinema visit, to check that you were satisfied with our service.

Unless you prefer us not to (by choosing to opt out of all marketing communications when we collect your details) we’ll also use this Information to provide marketing communications to you (including showing you adverts on social media).

Payments

If you choose to pay for your purchases on our websites by credit or debit card those payments will be processed by our payment provider rather than Cineworld. If you use a Cineworld gift card, e-gift code or other promotional code to pay for your purchases those payments may be processed by our gifts and promotions service providers rather than Cineworld.

When you make a payment by Paypal, by clicking proceed to payment, you understand and agree that: (i) you will be leaving the Cineworld website and will be transferring to the Paypal website (ii) any personal data you enter on the Paypal website shall be subject to Paypal’s privacy policy (iii) your personal data may be processed and stored by Paypal outside of the European Economic Area and (iii) Paypal shall be responsible for all processing of your personal data from the Paypal website.

6. My Cineworld

Information we may collect from you

If you wish to register to the My Cineworld service, we will ask you to complete the registration process to create your own My Cineworld account. As part of this process, we need your name and e-mail address and we may ask you for other Information such as your date of birth, postal address and favourite or local cinema. Alternatively, you can register for My Cineworld using your Facebook profile and we will use your Information from your Facebook profile to create your My Cineworld account. You may also provide us with additional Information when using your My Cineworld account, for example to update your personal details or to make purchases online. If you request a booking confirmation to be sent by SMS, we will also ask you to provide your mobile phone number.

You can update and amend the Information we hold about you, including your marketing preferences, at any time through your My Cineworld account.

How we use this Information

We use your Information for the same purposes as those identified above.

We also use this Information to allow us, our agents and sub-contractors who are working on our behalf to provide you with this service including facilitating your use of our Cineworld Advance Booking service. This Information is also used to identify you when you visit our websites including to assist with logging in to your account.

Where you choose this option, your payment card details will be securely stored by our payment services providers, who process and store all credit and debit card payments on our behalf, to help speed up the online booking process for you.

One of the benefits of signing up to My Cineworld is that you can choose to be kept up to date with our latest offers and promotions, weekly film times, upcoming attractions and information about special features of our websites or any of our other services or products which we think may be of interest to you. If you’ve given us your consent, we will also send you marketing communications about other offers, products and services which we think may be of interest to you, including those of our partners. We’ll use your Information to provide these information and marketing communications to you (including by showing you adverts on social media). If you would prefer us not to use your Information in this way you can opt out of all marketing communications during the My Cineworld registration process or change your marketing preferences at any time through your My Cineworld account.

7. Unlimited members

Information we collect from you

If you join our Unlimited Card scheme we will ask you to complete the registration process to register for an account. As part of this process, we will ask for Information such as your name, e-mail address, postal address, telephone number, date of birth and depending on your choice of payment method, payment card and/or bank details. We will also ask you to provide a photo of yourself for use on your Unlimited membership card. We also receive Information about your use of your Unlimited Card from our local and national partners who are identified on our websites from time to time.

If you register for Unlimited membership for someone else (if it is a gift), we will still need some Information about you (so we can contact you about your gift and you can pay) but we will also ask for the details of the person who will be the Unlimited member. Where you submit Information about that person to us, you confirm that you have all necessary permissions and consents to do so (including the consent of the Unlimited member’s parent or guardian, if they are under 18).

When you register with our Unlimited Card scheme you’ll need to set up a My Cineworld account, if you haven’t already got one, in order to use your Unlimited Card online. If you’ve already got a My Cineworld account, you can ask us to match up your details with your Unlimited Card membership details (you can confirm and update any which don’t match), and you’ll be able to manage all your details, preferences and take advantage of your Unlimited Card services through your My Cineworld account.

How we use this Information

We use this Information to allow us, our agents and sub-contractors who are working on our behalf to provide you (or where you have purchased membership as a gift membership, the registered Unlimited member) with the Unlimited membership services and for the purposes identified above. Occasionally, we may use Information to contact you to ask you to participate in a member survey, to help us improve Unlimited (your participation would be completely voluntary).

Where you have chosen to provide bank details, our payment processors will use this Information, on our behalf, to set up your direct debit. If you choose to pay by credit or debit card, or Cineworld gift or promotional code those details will also be processed by our payment processors rather than Cineworld.

Unless you have chosen not to receive them, we will use your Information to send you our Unlimited newsletters, invitations to Unlimited screenings and details of Unlimited offers, discounts and other promotions relating to your account. We will also use your Information to send you our weekly film times and details of our latest offers and promotions, upcoming attractions and information about special features of our websites or any of our other services or products which we think may be of interest to you. If you’ve given us your consent, we will also send you marketing communications about other offers, products and services which we think may be of interest to you, including those of our partners. We’ll use your Information to provide these information and marketing communications to you (including by showing you adverts on social media). If you would prefer us not to use your Information in this way you can opt out of all marketing communications during the Unlimited Card application process or change your marketing preferences at any time through your My Cineworld account.

Sharing Information with our partners

One of the benefits of your Unlimited Card membership is receiving discounted deals for Unlimited members from our local and national partners. Full details of the partners and offers we make available are displayed on our websites, within our apps and/or sent to you by email and/or SMS as part of your membership.

We receive details from our partners where you have used your Unlimited Card to take advantage of a discount or deal and we use this Information to keep track of the value of the deals and discounts we offer and to improve or more appropriately tailor the discounts and deals we can offer.

8. Collection of Information through your use of our websites and apps

As you use our websites or apps, details including Information may also be passively collected by us through our use of cookies, web beacons, log files and other technologies. This allows us to deliver more helpful information, services, tools and advertisements. Note that if you decline our cookies or ask for notification each time a cookie is being sent, this may affect your ease of use of our websites.

In particular, we may collect:

  • use essential features such as our online ticket booking system.
  • ensure that content from our websites is presented in the most effective manner for you and for your computer.
  • help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our websites.
  • notify you about any changes to our websites.

The Information we store within the cookie is encoded and restricted so only we (and our trusted third parties) are able to access this Information.

Our websites may link to a number of external websites, for example to social networks such as Facebook (so you can login via Facebook using Facebook Connect) and to our national partners who offer discounts and deals to our Unlimited members. Cineworld has no control over how your Information is used by these websites or where it is stored and, as such, any course of action you have regarding any alleged misuse of such information must be against the owners of the relevant website. You acknowledge that the same information may be provided by you to both that website and Cineworld, but only when specifically provided to Cineworld is it subject to this Privacy Policy. 10. How does Cineworld protect my Information?

While the nature of the Internet is such that we cannot guarantee the security of the information you transmit to us via the Internet, we follow strict security procedures (including appropriate technical and organisational measures) in the storage and disclosure of information which you have given us, to prevent unauthorised access or loss. Our security procedures mean that we may occasionally request proof of identity before we are able to discuss your account details or other queries.

Where we have given you (or where you have chosen) a password which enables you to access certain parts of our websites, you are responsible for keeping this password confidential. We ask you not to share a password with anyone.

The Information that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area ("EEA"). It may also be processed by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for one of our suppliers. Such staff may be engaged in, among other things, the fulfilment of your order, the processing of your payment details and the provision of support services. By submitting your Information, you agree to this transfer, storing or processing. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your Information is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

11. Who does Cineworld share my Information with?

We may share your Information in the following circumstances:

  • If you enter a competition on our websites or through our Facebook app, we may pass your details on to third parties for the purposes of administering the competition and/or delivering prizes.
  • To other members of our group and to our appointed service providers (such as our agents and sub-contractors) for the purpose of providing the services on our behalf, managing or administering certain aspects of our websites, or to help us develop new services. We will only transfer your personal information on the understanding that the third party has undertaken to us that they have in place adequate technical and organisational measures to protect that information, will not pass it on to any other party (without our explicit consent and only with valid grounds) and that they will not use your Information for their own business purposes.
  • If we are under a duty to disclose or share your personal information in order to comply with any legal obligation and/or in order to enforce or apply any other agreements between you and us (for example, debt collection agencies).
  • Where we are obliged to, or permitted to do so, by law, court order or to comply with any search warrant or similar presented to Cineworld by any law enforcement or government officer.
  • In the event that our business is sold or integrated with another business your information may be disclosed to our advisers and any prospective purchasers' advisers and will be passed on to the new owners of the business.
  • we may provide aggregate statistics about you and our other customers, sales, traffic patterns and related site information to reputable third party vendors, but these statistics will be anonymous and not include any of your Information.

12. Behavioural Advertising

We believe that advertising is more interesting to you when it is relevant. Accordingly, we may customise the advertisements that you see based upon:

  • the Information you voluntarily provide to us;

  • data we receive from third parties; or
