The Little Things trailer: Denzel Washington tracks a serial killer

You're always in good hands with Denzel Washington. The veteran star of Glory, Training Day and The Equalizer boasts a charisma that few other A-listers can match. And he's back to command the screen in upcoming movie The Little Things, which has debuted its first trailer.

Saving Mr. Banks helmer John Lee Hancock steers this moody serial killer thriller, collaborating with studio Warner Bros. Washington plays a small-time Sheriff named Joe Deacon, who turned his back on a potential high-flying promotion in the Los Angeles police department. Deacon's past comes rushing back in a blur when he gets embroiled in the search for a sadistic murderer, an investigation that requires him to pair up with an L.A. sergeant named Jim Baxter (Rami Malek). Disturbingly, the case has echoes of a prior investigation that continues to haunt Deacon.

Already, we have two Oscar winners in one movie (Washington for Glory and Training Day; Malek for Bohemian Rhapsody). And a third one hovers into view in the form of Dallas Buyers Club's Jared Leto, playing a seriously creepy prime suspect in the drama. This heavyweight trio assembles under the direction of the acclaimed Hancock, an eclectic director who has veered between family-friendly fare (Saving Mr. Banks), factual dramas (The Founder) and historical epics (The Alamo).

Certainly, this looks like his darkest and most intriguing movie so far, one that will surely allow Washington to go to the ragged edge as only he can. He's tangled with psychotic killers before in 1999's The Bone Collector and before that in 1998's supernaturally-inflected Fallen. (Never has The Rolling Stones' 'Time Is On My Side' sounded so sinister.) No doubt the movie will also prime us for Malek's upcoming villainous role in James Bond movie No Time To Die.

The Little Things is listed as 'coming soon to cinemas', so stay tuned to the blog and Twitter @Cineworld for more details.
