Oppenheimer teaser trailer offers an explosive glimpse at Christopher Nolan's new movie

Are you ready for Oppenheimer? Christopher Nolan's latest epic has unleashed a visually striking trailer that mixes black and white moodiness with appropriately Hadean explosions of orange and red. Frankly, we can't get enough.

The Dark Knight, Inception and Dunkirk helmer is set to bring us the definitive account of atomic bomb creator J. Robert Oppenheimer. As played by Nolan's regular cohort Cillian Murphy, Oppenheimer is the scientist who unwittingly sets mankind down a terrifying and apocalyptic path in the middle of the 20th century.

Check out the first trailer, which is short on explanatory exposition but heavy on suggestion and portentous atmosphere. The teaser has been unveiled as a live YouTube and Twitter stream linked to the official website, pitching itself as an ominous countdown towards the movie's release day and the moment when 'the world forever changes.'

Of course, the text matches the epochal events depicted in the story. But is the teaser also implicitly pointing towards another game-changing cinematic onslaught from Nolan himself? Watch and judge for yourself.

The extraordinary ensemble cast for Oppenheimer encompasses Kenneth Branagh, Florence Pugh, Emily Blunt, Gary Oldman, Robert Downey Jr., Gustaf Skarsgård, Matt Damon, Jason Clarke, Jack Quaid, Michael Angarano, Rami Malek, Josh Hartnett, James D'Arcy, Josh Peck, Dane DeHaan, Tony Goldwyn, David Dastmalchian, Matthias Schweighöfer, Benny Safdie, Alex Wolff and Alden Ehrenreich.

Oppenheimer has been shot with IMAX cameras by Nolan's regular cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema (Interstellar; Dunkirk; Tenet). There's no denying it will be a feast for the senses, and the intellect will surely be stimulated by Nolan's first-ever venture into the realm of factual drama. The movie is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book 'American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer' by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin.

Oppenheimer is released on July 21st 2023 so drop us your thoughts on the teaser trailer @Cineworld.
