Hardcore Henry

What's the story? A man must rescue his wife from a band of mercenaries in this unique first-person action movie.

In this highly original movie, we see everything from the point of view of Henry, a soldier resurrected from the brink of death who remembers nothing about his old life.

Awoken by his wife (Haley Bennett) he soon finds himself being shot at before his wife is kidnapped. Held hostage by a group of mercenaries headed up by a warlord by the name of Akan (Danila Kozlovsky), Henry must fight to get her back.

This unique movie headlines Chappie star Sharlto Copley and is written and directed by newcomer Ilya Naishuller. The entire movie is shot as if it were a first-person-shooter game, making it one of the most immersive films ever made. You've never seen anything like Hardcore Henry.

Hardcore Henry is released on 8th April.

Criminal

What's the story? A death row inmate absorbs another man's memories in this taut, suspenseful thriller.

Jericho Stewart (Kevin Costner) is a dangerous ex-con serving a life sentence on death row. However, he may unwittingly be the CIA's only hope of foiling a deadly terrorist plot, one that's already claimed the life of agent Bill Pope (Ryan Reynolds).

Stewart is chosen as the guinea pig for a groundbreaking procedure whereby Pope's memories, secrets and skills are implanted into his body, allowing the criminal to use the dead man's knowledge and complete the mission.

However the lines between Stewart and Pope become increasingly blurred, especially when the former makes contact with the latter's widow Jill (Gal Gadot). As chaos ensues, it remains unclear whether Stewart will succeed.

This action-packed thriller makes dramatic use of British locations and features an all-star supporting cast including Gary Oldman and Tommy Lee Jones.

Criminal opens on 15th April.

Eye in the Sky

What's the story? Helen Mirren stars in a gripping suspense thriller exploring the morality of modern warfare.

For years, Operation Cobra has been tracking the movements of a radicalised British woman who joined the Somali terrorist group Al-Shabab in Kenya. Now she's finally in their sights.

In a London Cabinet Office briefing room, officials join Lieutenant General Frank Benson (Alan Rickman) to remotely observe her capture. But everything changes when commanding officer Colonel Katherine Powell (Helen Mirren) learns that an imminent suicide bombing is being planned in the target's house. The 'capture' mission promptly becomes a 'kill' one. But then a US drone pilot (Aaron Paul) spots a little girl in the kill zone. Is she acceptable collateral damage?

Helen Mirren is on mesmerising form in Rendition director Gavin Hood's tense and highly relevant drama exploring the ethics of remote warfare. It also features the late Alan Rickman's final live-action screen performance.

Eye in the Sky opens on 8th April.
