Luca: watch the magical teaser trailer for Disney-Pixar's new movie

Disney-Pixar returns with a charming and luscious-looking trailer for its new movie Luca. The makers of Toy Story, Finding Nemo and Inside Out may well be about to spring a brilliant new duo upon us: two Italian sea-creatures masquerading on land as innocent young boys.

Directed by Enrico Casarosa (who helmed the Oscar-nominated Pixar short movie La Luna), Luca pitches itself as an autobiographical coming of age story set on the vibrant Italian Riviera. In the words of the official synopsis: "Luca shares these adventures with his newfound best friend, but all the fun is threatened by a deeply-held secret: they are sea monsters from another world just below the water’s surface."

Before we get to the trailer, here's the eye-catching new poster that teases an odyssey of sun, sea and gelati.

One more thing before we get to the trailer (we're not teasing, honestly) – some new images teasing the film's central friendship and lustrous visual style.

We're already getting irresistible summer vibes from this one, and that feeling only intensifies with the trailer. Expect plenty of classic Pixar humour as Luca and his new-found friend attempt to conceal their true identities from the loving yet deeply superstitious inhabitants of their seaside town. The excellent voice cast includes Jacob Tremblay (Room), Jack Dylan Grazer (IT; Shazam) and Maya Rudolph (Bridesmaids).

Think that Luca will banish the gloomy memories of the past year? It's due out in summer 2021, so tweet us your thoughts @Cineworld.
