Locked Down trailer: Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor negotiate life during a pandemic

As we step, gloomily, into lockdown #3, Hollywood has put its own spin on life during the COVID-19 crisis. Step forward Locked Down, a good-natured twist on one London-based couple's attempts to navigate a devastating pandemic.

The Warner Bros movie has A-list support on its side: Les Miserables Oscar winner Anne Hathaway teams with 12 Years A Slave's Chiwetel Ejiofor. They play Linda and Paxton, variously employed and recently furloughed, whose apparent domestic harmony is coming apart at the seams.

Directed by Doug Liman (who has Tom Holland film Chaos Walking coming soon), and written by Peaky Blinders' Steven Knight, there are some nice, Richard Curtis-esque lines pointed at the absurdity of life during a pandemic. ("Have you got 19 arses?" Paxton asks a shopper who has bulk-bought toilet roll.)

So far, so realistic. But, of course, this is the world of make-believe, and Locked Down soon takes a turn for the surreal as Linda and Paxton become embroiled in a diamond heist. Well, we don't want an exact reflection of our claustrophobic lives at the moment, do we? A little bit of escapism is sure to help.

The excellent supporting cast includes Sexy Beast's Ben Kingsley, Logan's Stephen Merchant and Inside Out's Mindy Kaling. The movie is listed as coming soon in the UK and Ireland (American auds get it this January on HBO Max), so check out the trailer below. Don't forget to tweet us your responses @Cineworld.
