This 19th-century epic stars Matthew McConaughey as Newton Knight, a poor Mississippi farmer who launches an uprising that ends with Jones County seceding from the Confederacy.
The creation of the Free State of Jones is based on real events and the drama, directed by Gary Ross (The Hunger Games, Pleasantville) and also starring Mahershala Ali (The Place Beyond the Pines), follows the thrilling true story of one of the most important figures from the Civil War.
