Family time is best experienced at the cinema. Whether we’re laughing, crying or leaping from our seats in excitement, the magic of the big screen has the capacity to envelop film fans of all ages, and a range of tasty snacks is exactly what’s needed to complete the experience.
Here at Cineworld, we’re dedicated to making these magical moments happen. With our Family Ticket, adults pay kids' prices (valid for groups of four people with up to two paying adults). This means everyone can bond and be more childish together as they savour the majesty of the cinema.
The latest, unmissable family blockbuster is the gleefully anarchic and hilarious Minions: The Rise of Gru. In this sequel to the blockbusting Minions movie, itself spun off from the hit Despicable Me franchise, we meet loveable uber-baddie Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) in his formative years.
Set in the 1970s, the movie introduces a clutch of memorable new characters in the form of the bumbling Vicious 6. And while the kids can enjoy the vibrantly animated slapstick, parents can enjoy the on-point voice casting that includes B-movie action legends Dolph Lundgren and Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Watch the delighted reaction from families when they set eyes on the Minions trailer in 4DX. The moving seats and immersive scents and smells of 4DX helped bring the wonderfully despicable world of Minions to life.
Cineworld's Family Ticket is the perfect way to experience the new Minions movie. In addition to the discount on the price of your seat, you'll get more than 30% off the price of a Family Special snack pack, too.
The Family Special includes two kids' Munchboxes – each containing a small box of sweet or salted popcorn, a Fruit Shoot or a bottle of water, plus a packet of Milky Way Magic Stars or raisins – along with a regular popcorn and two regular soft drinks for the adults in the group. It's a hearty feast alright, and if you present your Family Ticket at the snacks counter, you can get it for the bargain price of just £13.90 (or £15.90 if you want to go large).
Another fantastic family film currently on release in Cineworld is Disney-Pixar’s wondrous Lightyear. The Toy Story spin-off features Chris Evans (aka Captain America) as the voice of brave space ranger Buzz Lightyear. It will take you and the kids to infinity and beyond.
There are plenty more family films coming soon. Some 52 years after The Railway Children arrived on the silver screen, there's a brand-new film inspired by E. Nesbit's enduring classic, The Railway Children Return. With a new generation of young adventurers and even an appearance by the original movie's star Jenny Agutter, The Railway Children Return (from 15 July) is definitely one to look forward to. And then there's DC League of Super-Pets (released 29 July), which sees Batman and Superman's canine friends come to the rescue when the caped crime-fighters are kidnapped by an evil villain. Cute!
For now, though, it’s all about the release of Minions: The Rise of Gru. And with one of Cineworld's cost-saving Family Ticket, you can bring the whole gang together for a cinema visit that they – and you – will never forget. As part of Cineworld's commitment to family viewing, we also host Movies for Juniors and Cinebabies screenings.
