Double, double, toil and trouble… Three of movieland's best-loved witches are set to make a return to the big screen later this month when the Disney classic Hocus Pocus becomes the subject of a special Halloween showing at Cineworld (Tuesday 26th October).
Originally released in 1993, Kenny Ortega's riotous family comedy stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy as a trio of centuries-old witches who are inadvertently resurrected by a teenage boy (Omri Katz) on Halloween, before running amok in the town of Salem, Massachusetts.
While the film did modestly well at the box office first time around, it has since become something of a cult favourite, with special events being held in its honour every Halloween - not least in Salem itself. Indeed, the movie is so popular among fans that Disney+ is currently making a sequel. Set for a 2022 release, it's being directed by Anne Fletcher (27 Dresses) - and all three of the original witches are on board.
In the meantime, why not don your scariest Halloween costume and take your seats for a re-run of the original movie. Thrills and spills are guaranteed.
