Book now for your Cineworld Unlimited screening of Beats

It's not all about superheroes and explosions this summer. Come back down to Earth with our Cineworld Unlimited screening of Beats, director Brian Welsh's pulsating and nostalgic ode to the hedonistic 1990s Scottish rave scene. The movie screens in advance on 8th May and isn't to be missed.

Welsh, whose debut feature In Our Name featured an award-winning performance from Downton Abbey's Joanne Froggatt, has generated critical acclaim for his sophomore effort. Shot in black and white and set to a vibrant soundtrack of pulse-pounding classics, the movie features winning performances from leads Cristian Ortega and Lorn Macdonald.

They play chalk and cheese friends Johnno and Spanner, two Glasgow teens from wildly different backgrounds who are united through their love of music. As the authorities look to clamp down on so-called 'illegal' gatherings, the two lads prepare for the biggest rave party of their lives.

Executive produced by Sex, Lies & Videotape and Out of Sight film-maker Steven Soderbergh, Beats has already won over critics on the indie festival circuit. The Hollywood Reporter's Neil Young describes it as "[A]n infectiously enjoyable slice of knockabout nostalgia that wears its Trainspotting heritage proudly on its rough-edged tartan sleeve".
