Scream featurette honours the legacy of director Wes Craven

The upcoming Scream movie pays homage to one of the great masters of horror, Wes Craven. The late director, who passed away in 2015, initiated the Scream franchise back in 1996 with screenwriter Kevin Williamson and gave the flagging slasher movie genre the kick in the pants it needed. By infusing traditional scares with sly notes of meta humour, Scream tickled the funny bone at the same time as it tingled the spine.

When it comes to the latest Scream movie, the fifth overall in the series, directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin are taking over. They helmed the slyly funny and gory Ready or Not from 2019, and definitely have to chops to do justice to Craven's legacy. Scream reunites series veterans Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette for another bout of bloody mayhem as the resurgent Ghostface killer targets a new generation of victims. As one might expect, there's a deeply twisted motivation guiding the psycho's actions.
