March movies in Cineworld: this month's unmissable big-screen offerings

This February, there's a wide variety of big-screen releases in Cineworld to sink your teeth into. From superhero epics to re-releases of iconic gangster classics, we've got all bases covered. Scroll down to find out what's on and when.

1. The Batman (released 4th March)

Robert Pattinson makes his Dark Knight debut in director Matt Reeves' feverishly anticipated DC comic book epic. The Batman takes everything back to first principles, re-establishing Bruce Wayne as an eminent detective on the hunt for Gotham City's worst criminals. Pattinson's glowering iteration of the Caped Crusader meets his match in the form of the diabolical Riddler (a chilling Paul Dano) who has dark plans for the venal, corrupt city. Clad in luscious Gothic design, with a broiling score from Michael Giacchino and an excellent supporting cast including Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon and Andy Serkis as Alfred, this isn't to be missed. The Batman is available in all major propositions: IMAX, 4DX, ScreenX, Superscreen and ViP.

2. The Nan Movie (released 18th March)

Who says that getting older is a graceful process? British comic Catherine Tate brings her hilariously foul-mouthed Nan character, familiar from the BBC's Catherine Tate Show, to the big screen, and woe betides anyone who rubs this irascible pensioner up the wrong way. With Tate bringing us the origin story of Joannie, the delightfully rude and raucous Nan of the title, Matthew Horne also reprises his role as her long-suffering grandson Jamie.

3. The Phantom of the Open (released 18th March)

Oscar-winner Mark Rylance portrays the real-life golfing no-hoper Maurice Flitcroft in this endearing and inspiring story of a triumph against the odds. In 1976, shipyard worker and amiable chancer Flitcroft takes a punt on entering the elite British Open Championships – and to his absolute amazement, not to mention that of his family, he gets in. What then unfolds is a gentle story of how tenacity and pluck act as a substitute for technical skill, the likeable Maurice rallying more people to his cause, despite the fact he has no golfing skill whatsoever. Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins co-stars and Submarine's Craig Roberts directs this quintessential British underdog story.

4. Ambulance (released 25th March)

Saddle up and settle in, because the High Prince of the Pyrotechnic, Michael Bay, is back with his latest overwrought and explosive offering. When two criminal brothers end up commandeering a Los Angeles ambulance in the wake of a heist gone wrong, the scene is set for a sweaty, febrile story of retribution. Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II are the siblings on a collision course and Eiza Gonzalez plays the paramedic caught in the middle in this latest slice of Bayhem.

5. Morbius (released 31st March)

After many delays, we're ready to welcome the next instalment of the Sony Spider-Man Universe to the big screen. Morbius comes on the heels of the two Venom movies, and we're also curious to see if, or how, it ties in with the blockbusting Spider-Man: No Way Home. Jared Leto stars as Michael Morbius, a scientist cursed with a rare blood disorder. Upon venturing to a mysterious cave in a bid to find a cure, Morbius finds himself invested with extraordinary vampiric abilities and super-strength, which he plans to use against those who would seek to destroy him.
