Knives Out sequel in the works starring Daniel Craig

A few weeks ago, we demanded a Knives Out sequel starring Daniel Craig. And it seems we may get our wish, as Knives Out 2 is reportedly in the works.

Although distributor Lionsgate is yet to officially sign off, writer-director Rian Johnson is said to be plotting Knives Out 2. And Daniel Craig's wry, "CSI KFC" investigator Benoit Blanc will be front and centre, indicates The Hollywood Reporter.

To quote THR: "Johnson told The Hollywood Reporter at Lionsgate's pre-Golden Globes party on Saturday night that he was already developing a sequel centered on Daniel Craig's Southern detective Benoit Blanc investigating a new case. The filmmaker added that he was eager to make the pic quickly, ideally in the next year".

Johnson's regular producer Ram Bergman confirmed Craig's involvement: "Daniel had so much fun doing it, and he wants to do more".

It's hardly surprising a sequel is on the cards. Knives Out emerged as one of 2019's critical darlings, scoring 97% on Rotten Tomatoes and grossing $247 million worldwide against a $40 million budget. Johnson's pacy direction and witty screenplay were widely praised, lacing a head-scrambling Agatha Christie whodunit with topical undercurrents and lashings of gallows humour. The movie didn't convert any of its recent Golden Globe nominations into wins, but all eyes are on its potential performance at the Oscars.
