Greed: Cineworld Unlimited screening of Steve Coogan's new film

Steve Coogan and Michael Winterbottom are one of the best actor/director duos in modern cinema. They've collaborated on the acclaimed likes of 24 Hour Party People and The Trip, and we're delighted to say that their latest collaboration is your next Cineworld Unlimited screening.

The movie is Greed, and it's a blistering, darkly funny attack on corruption, capitalism and the horror of combining a garish fake tan with bleached white teeth. The ever-versatile Coogan plays the hideously wealthy Sir Richard 'Greedy' McCreadie, a self-made retail billionaire and bully about whom we learn more during his decadent, Roman-themed 60th birthday party in Greece.

It promises to be another impressively transformative turn from Coogan, and the supporting cast includes David Mitchell as McReadie's put-upon biographer. The film is co-written by Veep satirist Sean Gray, and if you thought Coogan couldn't possibly play a character more repulsive or annoying than Alan Partridge, think again.

Greed held its world premiere at the 2019 Toronto International Film Festival, where it drew strong reviews for Coogan's performance. Writes Allan Hunter in Screen Daily: "Winterbottom delivers a heady cocktail of absurdity and profundity, laced with a generous measure of cutting one-liners in a film that builds into a scathing commentary on a world where the rich keep getting richer and the poor are merely collateral damage".
