Gal Gadot to lead her own spy movie called Heart of Stone

From Themyscira to the world of espionage: actor Gal Gadot is broadening her horizons by leading her own spy thriller. Deadline reports the movie is called Heart of Stone, which is being described as an "original international spy thriller". She's reportedly landed an "eight-figure deal" for the movie, vaulting Gadot into the realm of the highest-paid actresses, and there are expectations that Heart of Stone could launch its own franchise.

Could this rival the likes of James Bond and Mission: Impossible's Ethan Hunt? There's no denying that Gadot already has the blockbuster chops, what with her trendsetting role as DC's Wonder Woman. Interestingly, the movie comes from Skydance Media, who have been behind Tom Cruise's Mission movies. Talking of which, Mission: Impossible 7 is on its way in 2021 with the eighth instalment coming in 2022. And 25th James Bond movie No Time To Die is set to arrive on 2nd April 2021.

Deadline reports that Aeronauts helmer Tom Harper is on board to direct – that movie showcased visually extravagant flying sequences and action set-pieces, so indications are that Heart of Stone is in good hands. Harper also tackled TV's Peaky Blinders and acclaimed Jesse Buckley drama Wild Rose, so he also knows a thing or two about character-driven stories.

The script will come from the team of Greg Rucka, who wrote Charlize Theron vehicle The Old Guard, and Allison Schroeder, who was Oscar-nominated for Hidden Figures. In combination with Gadot's inherent star power, Heart of Stone clearly boasts a lot of prestige.

In the meantime, Gadot remains busy with both Wonder Woman 1984 and Agatha Christie adaptation Death on the Nile on the go. The former is set for UK theatrical release on 16th December 2020, with a streaming date coming later. The latter movie has been pushed back to December 2021 owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Gadot is also attached to a reboot of lavish Elizabeth Taylor epic Cleopatra.
