Updated: Fantastic Beasts 3 title and UK release date has been announced

The Fantastic Beasts 3 title has been revealed as The Secrets of Dumbledore. The ongoing Harry Potter spin-off series continues to delve into the history of the boy wizard's mentor, as played on sprightly form by Jude Law. He will be joined by Eddie Redmayne as Newt Scamander, plus a host of familiar faces including Katherine Waterston's Tina, Alison Sudol's Queenie, Ezra Miller's Credence, Dan Fogler's Jacob and Jessica Williams' Professor Lally Hicks.

The plot outline is as follows: "Professor Albus Dumbledore knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald’s growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?"

The key difference this time is the casting of the evil Grindelwald. Johnny Depp is out, replaced by Casino Royale and Another Round's Mads Mikkelsen, who will no doubt bring the requisite level of menace to the part. David Yates is directing while the script is another partnership between Potter author J.K. Rowling and veteran franchise screenwriter Steven Kloves.

UPDATED: And in even more excellent news, we're getting the third Fantastic Beasts movie three months earlier than expected. Originally slated for July 2022, The Secrets of Dumbledore is now scheduled for release on 8th April 2022.

What secrets will be revealed? We'll find out before long.
