The Mule
What's the story? Clint Eastwood stars as Earl Stone, a man in his 80s who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive. Easy enough, but, unbeknownst to Earl, he's just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. He does well - so well, in fact, that his cargo increases exponentially, and Earl is assigned a handler. But he isn't the only one keeping tabs on Earl; the mysterious new drug mule has also hit the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates. And even as his money problems become a thing of the past, Earl's past mistakes start to weigh heavily on him, and it's uncertain if he'll have time to right those wrongs before law enforcement, or the cartel's enforcers, catch up to him.

What's the story? Academy Award-winner Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) brings his highly anticipated next feature to the screen, an adaptation of James Baldwin's stunning novel, If Beale Street Could Talk. In early 1970's Harlem, Tish, a nineteen-year old girl, is in love with a young sculptor, Fonny, the father of her unborn child. When Fonny is falsely accused of rape and imprisoned, Tish and their families race to clear his name before the baby is born. A story about love persisting in the face of racial oppression and injustice, Jenkins brings together a talented young cast which includes Stephan James (Selma, Race) as Fonny and newcomer Kiki Layne as Tish.

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (Hindi)
What's the story? Manikarnika The Queen of Jhansi, the film, captures the life of its 22-year-old Queen 'Rani Lakshmi Bai' who refused to cede her Kingdom of Jhansi to the British Empire. She was the first woman in India's history to fight against the British in its cry for Independence. Despite fighting a fierce battle, she was killed in combat. Her life story and fight against the British is etched to forever become a formidable tale of bravery, valor and the strength of a woman, inspiring generations to come.

What's the story? What's the story? The hero is a happy-go-lucky guy who doesn't take things seriously except his lady-love who he meets and gets attracted to, in due course. Now, the heroine has a problem that if anyone proposes to her, they would be chased away by some ghostly spirit that accompanies her always. It is now for the hero to solve the mystery behind her ghost companion. How he tackles this situation whether he is able to get her lover recover from this possessed state forever or not is the rest of the movie.

The Gandhi Murder (English) (Opens Wednesday 30th January)
What's the story? Releasing on Mahatma Gandhi's 71st death Anniversary, The Gandhi Murder is a period movie based on verified facts of true events that led to the eventual assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. The movie demonstrates a violent India, at the backdrop of a non-violent Gandhi, as hard-line fanatic mind-sets began to grow roots in an India divided on the basis of religion. The feature is a story of three police officers in different parts of India, who, well aware of the intelligence that Gandhi's life is under threat, must take key decisions that would eventually either save the Mahatma, or the country.

What's the story? Northern Ballet's Tortoise & the Hare races on to the big screen as part of our fantastic season of interactive ballets for children, narrated by Anita Rani. Once upon a time there was a speedy Hare who would never stop talking about how fast he could run. Sick of being teased for his slowness, Tortoise challenged him to a race. No one thought he could win, but life is full of surprises! With playful characters and spellbinding music, this adorable ballet is sure to have your little ones dancing with excitement!

What's the story? Shot at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul during the BTS WORLD TOUR 'LOVE YOURSELF', an exclusive screening of the most sought-after concert of 2018 hits movie theatres worldwide for a one-day only event. Uniting fans together to celebrate the seven members of the global boyband and their unprecedented international phenomenon, the event will also be shown in ScreenX theatres, available for additional screenings starting January 26.

Screen Anime: Dragon Ball Super – Broly (dubbed version) (Sunday 27th January, 3.30pm)
What's the story? The story of a new Saiyan. Earth is peaceful following the Tournament of Power. Realising that the universes still hold many more strong people yet to see, Goku spends all his days training to reach even greater heights. Then one day, Goku and Vegeta are faced by a Saiyan called 'Broly' who they've never seen before. The Saiyans were supposed to have been almost completely wiped out in the destruction of Planet Vegeta, so what's this one doing on Earth? This encounter between the three Saiyans who have followed completely different destinies turns into a stupendous battle, with even Frieza (back from Hell) getting caught up in the mix. ROH Royal Opera Live 2019: La Traviata (Wednesday 30th January, 6.45pm)
What's the story? From the thrill of unexpected romance to a heartbreaking reconciliation that comes too late – Verdi's La Traviata is one of the most popular of all operas. Alfredo falls in love in with the courtesan Violetta in glamorous Paris society, but underneath the surface run darker undercurrents, leading to a tragic ending. The opera's wealth of melodies includes the famous Brindisi and the exuberant 'Sempre libera' – both showing the lyricism of Italian opera at its most immediately appealing. Richard Eyre's production for The Royal Opera brings out all the emotional colour, from the giddy discovery of love, through painful confrontation to the inevitable conclusion. Lavish period sets and costumes enhance the reality of a moving story based on true life.

NT Live: I'm Not Running (Thursday 31st January, 7pm)
What's the story? I'm Not Running is an explosive new play by David Hare, premiering at the National Theatre and broadcast live to cinemas. Pauline Gibson has spent her life as a doctor, the inspiring leader of a local health campaign. When she crosses paths with her old boyfriend, a stalwart loyalist in Labour Party politics, she's faced with an agonising decision. What's involved in sacrificing your private life and your piece of mind for something more than a single issue? Does she dare? Hare was recently described by The Washington Post as 'the premiere political dramatist writing in English'. His other work includes Pravda and Skylight, broadcast by National Theatre Live in 2014.
