New Mexico's baddest, most corrupt buddy cops bite off more than they can chew in this pitch-black comedy. Albuquerque police detectives Bob Bolano (Michael Pena) and Terry Monroe (Alexander Skarsgard) are quite possibly the worst cops ever to disgrace a uniform. They guzzle booze and hoover drugs on duty, blackmail criminals, disrespect authority and don't even bother paying lip service to the notion of policing. Now they've got wind of a bank heist that's being set up by a deviant English aristocrat (Theo James) and his dandyish sidekick (Caleb Landry Jones). Naturally, our anti-heroes decide to let the crime go ahead and help themselves to the proceeds. But things don't go entirely according to plan. This outrageously funny first American film by John Michael McDonagh, acclaimed writer/director of 'The Guard' and 'Calvary', is packed with rapid-fire quips, scandalous behaviour, very dark satire, knowingly retro 1970s cool, and lashings of Glen Campbell on the soundtrack.
