Uda Aida tackles the importance of one's mother tongue over the English language. A family living in a village want their son to study in a convent school because, they believe studying in English will provide a better standing for his future. Little do they realize that securing a place is the easy part, difficulties arise when they are reminded of their lowly status by the other affluent parents. Once their son has started his education, they notice a change in his values which affects their relationship. How they balance their son's dreams whilst understanding the importance of their mother tongue forms the crux of the film.
