An exhilarating adaptation of the children's adventure classic with a fresh espionage twist. The four Walker children are on a dull Lake District holiday with their mother (Kelly Macdonald). But when she gives them permission to camp on a remote island, the quartet find themselves at the centre of a fantastic summer adventure. Another family of children, the Blacketts, also lay claim to the island, leading to a play battle between the rival Swallows and Amazons. But things turn serious when the Blacketts' Uncle, Jim Turner (Rafe Spall), is revealed to be a spy, hotly pursued by a secret agent (Andrew Scott)! This bold, imaginative new adaptation of Arthur Ransome's quintessential English family classic adds an element of real danger and heroism drawn from the author's own experiences as an MI6 spy. Certain to charm and thrill a new generation, it makes stunning use of its idyllic Lake District locations and introduces a terrific cast of child actors. In English with English subtitles.
