A boy battles gods and monsters in this epic animated family action-adventure from the creators of The Boxtrolls. Young Kubo (Art Parkinson) leads a simple life as a storyteller in a small seaside town. But his life changes abruptly when he accidentally summons a spirit from the past that's bent on pursuing an ancient vendetta. Now this unlikely hero must embark on an amazing quest to save his family and solve the mystery of his father, the world's greatest samurai warrior. Along the way to fulfilling his destiny, Kubo joins forces with Monkey (Charlize Theron) and Beetle (Matthew McConaughey) and uses his shamisen - a magical musical instrument - to take on such formidable foes as the vengeful Moon King (Ralph Fiennes) and the evil twin Sisters (Rooney Mara). This compelling story is told in a breathtaking blend of CGI and puppet animation from Laika, the innovative studio that gave us Coraline, ParaNorman and The Boxtrolls.
