'The Leader' tells the life story of a hero who gives people the courage to believe in themselves. The Leader's struggle is paralleled with that of the ninety-year old struggle of the people. Having been born the son of a sea captain from Guneysu, Rize, he becomes the hope for the poor migrants in Kasimpasa. The story sweeps us in as the Leader takes his first test in front of his father. At the same time, it is a story of an eleven-year old proving to his father that he is becoming a man. The Leader sacrifices himself by becoming the mayor of Istanbul. He is elected by the people and swears to protect their interests.
