An enjoyably offbeat Tamil comedy centering around a dying man and a paramedic. Kailasam (Vijay Sethupathi) is aged 55 and afflicted with chronic diabetes. He keeps a box of orange candies in his house, which are dangerous for his health - but he refuses to deny himself such pleasures. When he's bored, he intentionally rings the free emergency ambulance service to take him on the three-hour journey into town. It's here that he meets Satya, a paramedic whose father has just died. Slowly but surely, these two very different men begin to have a significant impact on each other's lives. Vijay Sethupathi and Ramesh Thilak make a memorable double-act in this dark comedy. Orange Mittai is directed by noted, award-winning filmmaker Biju Viswanath, whose 2001 sports drama Lagaan was Oscar nominated for Best Foreign Language Film.
