After losing his father for the sake of a flying balloon at the age of 9, Umut's emotional connection to the sky and space, his dream of reaching the space that his father saw as his dream, is suddenly triggered after the Sputnik satellite, which the Soviets sent into space in 1957. Umut, who thinks 'If they do it, why can't we do it', should keep the promise he made when he said goodbye to his father. Umut, "just sit tight" despite those who say, with his beloved Leyla, his dear friends Hasan and Mustafa, with Çingen Necati, the joy of Bandırma with his clarinet and with the Missile Club they founded together, he goes on a journey to the sky, from there to space and finally to the other side of the world, where he will lose his great love Leyla.
