A British squaddie is lost on the hostile streets of 1971 Belfast in this harrowing, nightmarish action thriller. Seeking a better life, naive young orphan Gary Hook (Jack O'Connell) joins the British Army. His regiment is promptly dispatched to troubled Northern Ireland. When a house raid turns into a mini-riot, the soldiers flee. But Hook is left behind in the melee, barely managing to escape into Belfast's backstreets. Injured, lost and alone in a battle-scarred urban jungle, he's sought by his commanding officer, Lieutenant Armitage (Sam Reid), and a shadowy undercover intelligence unit led by Captain Browning (Sean Harris). Unable to distinguish friend from foe, Hook encounters both the UDF and different factions of the IRA during his long night of fear. TV veteran Yann Demange's feature debut is scripted by Gregory Burke, the acclaimed writer of 'Black Watch'. It's an edge-of-seat, politically aware thriller, packed with heart-stopping chase sequences.
