Should Will Smith play the Genie in Disney's Aladdin reboot?

screen-poster

You've no doubt heard that the Fresh Prince himself, Will Smith, is circling the role of the Genie in Disney's planned Aladdin reboot.

Guy Ritchie is set to tackle the live-action version of Disney's 1992 masterpiece. In the movie the late, lamented Robin Williams was unleashed upon a generation of young moviegoers with his infectious vocal role as Aladdin's wisecracking sidekick.

So what do you Cineworlders make of the news? Should Will step into Robin's role? We thought we'd round up a few of your responses.

Carrot Relish is full of positives and would love to see Will take the role.

Retr0Mike likes the idea, but with one or two conditions...

Yep, we can't see that happening ourselves. Adam Orton is stumping for somebody else.

We assume Adam means Broadway veteran Trevor Dion Nicholas. Maybe that's a Twitter discussion for another time...

Either way the news also led to some more vociferous reactions, including this from Brooker.

That's the sort of reaction that only a beloved actor like Robin Williams could generate. Finally David Oakes falls somewhere in the middle.

Thanks everyone for your responses. If anyone else out there wants to share their thoughts, tweet us @Cineworld.
