It's been six and a half years since Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones last took on the scum of the universe in Men in Black 3. And now the world's most famous intergalactic crime-fighting agency is getting a makeover – and a new central duo to boot.
The first trailer for Men In Black: International expands the universe of the series, introducing us to the British arm of the agency. Overseen by the reliable Liam Neeson, the muscle is provided by a sturdy Chris Hemsworth as Agent H who must team with his American counterpart Agent M (played by Thor: Ragnarok co-star Tessa Thompson) to battle the alien scourge.
Fast & Furious 8 director F. Gary Gray looks to be bringing more action-oriented spectacle to this MIB movie, as the story takes in a host of global environments. Emma Thompson returns as Agent O from Men in Black 3 and the supporting cast also includes The Big Sick's Kumail Nanjiani, The Big Short's Rafe Spall and The Greatest Showman's Rebecca Ferguson.
The question is: will the Hemsworth/Thompson pairing live up to the series-defining Smith/Jones one? Their contrasting excitable/gruff chemistry helped transform the first Men in Black movie (released in 1997) into a deliriously entertaining comedy-adventure, so hopes are high for this one. With Iron Man screenwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway adapting Lowell Cunningham's graphic novel, we can surely expect a blend of wit and explosive thrills.
