If you were excited by yesterday's reveal of the Aladdin poster, then the first trailer is sure to send you into the stratosphere.
It's our first look at Guy Ritchie's reinvention of Disney's 1992 classic, in which the titular Agrabah street urchin forms a friendship with the Genie of the lamp. Handy when power-mad sorcerer Jafar looks to seize control over the entire kingdom.
No doubt we'll get plenty of that slick Ritchie visual style familiar from the likes of Lock Stock, Sherlock Holmes and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. Will Smith brings the A-list star power as the Genie, taking over from the late Robin Williams, and relative screen newcomer Mena Massoud plays Aladdin himself. Naomi Scott is Princess Jasmine and Marwan Kenzari is Jafar.
The trailer leans heavily on our nostalgia for the original, in particular the reveal of the Cave of Wonders and its raspy intonations, beckoning treasure-seekers to enter. There's no sign of any cast members apart from Massoud, but with its intoxicating, sand-swept atmosphere, it's safe to say we're excited about this one. Check out the trailer below.
