Already a massive hit in the States, and with an amazing 97% on reviews website Rotten Tomatoes, The Big Sick is the rom-com that everybody’s talking about in America, and now you can be among the first to see it in this country with our Unlimited screening on Monday 24th July.
Produced by Judd Apatow (Bridesmaids, Knocked Up, Trainwreck) and headlining Silicon Valley star Kumail Nanjiani, The Big Sick tells the story of Pakistan-born aspiring comedian Kumail (Nanjiani) who hooks up with grad student Emily (Zoe Kazan) after one of his stand-up sets, but what they thought would be just a one-night stand quickly blossoms into the real thing.
“It’s a terrific, heartfelt and continually funny movie that is easily one of the best films so far this year,” raved IGN, while The Guardian called it “a charming, multifaceted film that never feels as overstuffed as it could in different hands.”
Variety, meanwhile, wrote that it’s “a winning relationship comedy and major breakthrough for director Michael Showalter and co-writer/star Kumail Nanjian” with Screenrant raving that “The Big Sick successfully infuses the traditional rom-com formula with a modern sensibility.”
