New Tomorrowland: A World Beyond trailer features George Clooney and reveals some secrets

screen-poster

"Every second that ticks by, the future is running out..." Welcome to the first, full trailer for Disney's epic sci-fi adventure Tomorrowland: A World Beyond, until now one of 2015's most enigmatic and elusive releases.

To be honest, this promo doesn't make it any less enigmatic or elusive – but it does look pretty flipping awesome. Directed by Brad Bird, of The Incredibles and Ratatouille acclaim, the film stars Britt Robertson as young girl Casey who comes into possession of a mysterious trinket.

This trinket, it turns out, transports her to a mysterious alternate reality known as Tomorrowland, and the only person who can help is former boy genius inventor Frank (George Clooney). It turns out that Casey is destined to "fix the future" – but soon she and Frank have to go on the run from mysterious forces who want them both silenced.

Teasing plenty of the witty touches that we'd expect from Bird, including the use of a bathtub as a rocket, and brief glimpses of Hugh Laurie's futuristic-attired character David, the trailer promises a visually dazzling, energetic adventure.

Tomorrowland: A World Beyond is released on 22nd May.
