New Thor: Ragnarok concept art teases Cate Blanchett's villain

screen-poster

It's been a fair old while since the last standalone Thor movie (that was The Dark World back in October 2013), but this October the hammer-wielding hunk returns in Marvel's Thor: Ragnarok.

Once again played by the impressively hirsute Chris Hemsworth, the God of Thunder is this time joined by Avengers wingman Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) for what Ruffalo himself describes as, "an intergalactic buddy road movie".

Frankly, that description is all we need. Add in the quirky chops of Hunt for the Wilderpeople director Taiki Waititi and Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett as new supervillain Hela, and this could turn the standard Marvel movie inside out. Talking of the latter, we've got our first glimpse in this newly unveiled concept art that teases the battle to come, one also featuring the returning trickster, Loki (Tom Hiddleston).

And talking of battles, don't go expecting Thor and Hulk to be playing nice, either. Their brilliantly antagonistic dynamic from 2012's Avengers Assemble looks set to carry over into the new film if this snapshot is anything to go by.

What do you think? Will Thor: Ragnarok be the best movie in the series so far? With the movie out on 27th October, there's plenty of time to send us your thoughts @Cineworld.
