The new Last Jedi trailer has landed! Here are 5 questions we have

It’s here! After months of waiting the first full-length trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has landed and – oh boy – it’s a doozy! Here are five burning questions we have after watching it...

Why is Luke so worried?

“I’ve seen this raw strength only once before,” says the bearded Jedi master. “It didn’t scare me enough then. It does now.”

We’ve not really seen Luke like this before. In the original films he was wide-eyed and innocent, but he appears to have grown more grave in the decades since. We’re not expecting too many smiles from Luke in this one.

Will Leia die?

We know, sadly, that Princess Leia won’t be in Episode IX, but how will Lucasfilm write her out? The trailer includes a moment where Leia’s ship appears to be in Kylo Ren’s sights. After having offed his own father, will the person born Ben Solo commit matricide?

Where’s Laura Dern and Benicio Del Toro?

We’ve seen photos of Laura Dern’s Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo and Benicio Del Toro’s DJ, but so far they’ve not popped up in any of the trailers. Does that mean their roles are little more than cameos or is director Rian Johnson keeping them secret until the movie's release? We can’t wait to see what they bring to the Star Wars universe.

What does the last Jedi temple have to do with it?

We know that the planet Ahch-To is the location of the last Jedi temple, and indeed we see it in the trailer. But what is its significance? And are Kylo Ren and his master, Supreme Leader Snoke, after its presumably immense power?

Will Rey turn to the dark side?

The trailer climaxes with Rey saying, “I need someone to show me my place in all this,” as Kylo Ren proffers his hand.

The actors have been hinting that the movie will take their characters in unexpected directions. Will Rey feel the temptations of the dark side and defect from Luke to Kylo Ren?

See the new trailer below. Tickets are now on sale for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which opens at Cineworld on 14 December.
