You just can't keep the Terminator franchise down. Arriving this October, Terminator: Dark Fate is the sixth instalment in the cyborg series, which originated with James Cameron's micro-budget 1984 masterpiece, and reached new heights with 1991's genre-defining Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
The various sequels since then (released in 2003, 2009 and 2015) have, to put it bluntly, failed to scale the heights of their classic predecessors. Little wonder that Dark Fate is disregarding the events of the third, fourth and fifth movies, instead pitching itself as a direct continuation of the T2 storyline.
For that reason, we've got the return of Linda Hamilton as warrior Sarah Connor, mother of John Connor who grew up to become the saviour of mankind in the war against the machines. Edward Furlong is reprising his T2 role as John, and Arnold Schwarzenegger is back as the T-800 cyborg.
They join series newcomers Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes and Gabriel Luna in a movie produced by Cameron, and directed by Deadpool's Tim Miller. The movie was one of the key titles at Comic-Con 2019, where it debuted a behind the scenes look at the next stage in the franchise. Check it out below.
