Weekend blues? Then stave them off with our instalment of the hottest movie news.
Laura Dern shares new Last Jedi photo
We're all curious to know more about the Jurassic Park and Blue Velvet star's role in The Last Jedi. All we know is that Laura is playing a purple-haired character named Admiral Holdo and appears to possess some standing within Leia's rebel resistance.
Whilst speculation rages, Laura shared the following Instagram image ahead of her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this past weekend.
So what nuggets of information was she permitted to reveal? Given the notoriously tight-lipped nature of the Star Wars productions, not much, but Laura did say she loved working with the late, great Carrie Fisher.
Motion poster for The Predator teases an epic comeback
Get to da chopper! It's been 30 years since Arnie action classic introduced us to the terrifying Predator: mandibled hunter of macho manly men, and one of the greatest movie monsters ever put to screen. 1990 sequel Predator 2 got a bit of a slating before 2010 reboot Predators kind of restored the franchise's integrity.
Now original Predator actor and Lethal Weapon writer Shane Black is back with a reboot of a reboot that will right the wrongs of the previous movies. It's called, imaginatively, The Predator, and takes place in between the events of both Predator 2 and Predators.
Not much else is known about it, other than it takes place in a suburban setting, it's been slapped with a R-rating in America (that hopefully means it will be super-violent) and it features a strong cast including Logan's Boyd Holbrook, comedy sensation Keegan Michael-Key and Straight Outta Compton's Trevante Rhodes.
It's out over here on 3rd August 2018 and a suitably electrifying motion poster has been released teasing the Predator's return. Check it out below.
J.K. Simmons confirms Justice League 2 script is being written
We're just under a month away from the release of superhero smash-em-up Justice League, one that pairs Ben Affleck's Batman and Gal Gadot's Wonder Woman with some other reigning stars from DC's output. These include Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) – but one particular favourite of ours won't be sporting any superpowers.
He arrives in the form of Commissioner Gordon, loyal ally to Batman and played by Whiplash Oscar winner J.K. Simmons. It'll be Simmons' first go at the character and he's already confirmed to Total Film that he'll be back for more adventures in future. And not just in the Justice League universe either...
"But this is the first Justice League movie, we hope of a few," he explains. "They're working on scripts for The Batman and for the next Justice League movie. It introduces my incarnation of Commissioner Gordon. I don't have a lot to do. I feel like I just dipped my toe in the water of who Commissioner Gordon will be."
Can we expect to see some of that Whiplash rage being summoned up? Even Batman would quail in his boots at that. Directed by Joss Whedon (who took over from Zack Snyder and has overseen extensive reshoots), Justice League arrives on 17th November.
