5 reasons why Spider-Man: Homecoming is your perfect ‘Wednesdate’

In Cineworld NOW, Spider-Man: Homecoming is the best Spidey movie yet. Here’s why it’s your ideal ‘Wednesdate’ movie...

1. It brings Spidey into the MCU

We love the original Spider-Man flicks, but it was always frustrating they weren’t able to connect up to the wider Marvel movie universe. Now, with Tom Holland’s version of the teenage web-slinger, Spider-Man can rub super-shoulders with Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man – hell, anyone from the rest of the MCU. So expect cameos from Iron Man and Captain America in this one, as well as Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts and Jon Favreau’s ‘Happy’ Hogan.

2. This is Marvel’s most down-to-Earth movie

After the space hijinks of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming brings the action back down to Earth. This new film has been billed as a superhero movie-cum-high school comedy, and there’s definitely a bit of John (The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink) Hughes in its cinematic DNA.

3. Tom Holland is a STAR

He’s wowed us before, particularly in true-life tsunami drama The Impossible, but Spider-Man: Homecoming is truly Tom Holland’s movie. He’s the youngest actor yet to play Stan Lee’s most iconic superhero and completely nails Peter Parker’s teenage angst and crippling social awkwardness.

This is a totally fresh take on ol' web-head, so despite this being the SECOND Spidey reboot, you’ve never seen a Spider-Man film or Spider-Man HIMSELF like this before…

4. It has one of the very best Marvel villains

Brilliantly, Marvel/Sony have cast one-time Batman Michael Keaton as Spidey’s nemesis in this film. Adrian Toombs is a salvager of alien tech pilfered from the streets of New York after the events of Avengers Assemble and, through the course of the film, becomes the Vulture, a narked off supervillain armed with mechanical wings.

5. The experience doesn't end with the film!

Extend your evening and chew over the experience of the movie at Frankie and Benny's, Chiquitos and Pizza Hut. All the better for discussing that all-important question: who’s best out of Tobey, Andrew or Tom?
