Tom Holland confirms Spider-Man: Homecoming is the first of a trilogy

We haven't even set eyes on Spider-Man: Homecoming yet but star Tom Holland has already revealed that it's the first of three planned movies. Whilst we're all celebrating, that reveal may have been accidental...

"Yes, there will be Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 and Spider-Man: Homecoming 3," he tells French magazine Allocine (whilst no doubt looking out for rogue Marvel execs hoping to tell him off).

He adds that Homecoming is but the first stage in Peter Parker's journey: "There is still plenty of room to see Peter Parker grow up, and, especially, Spider-Man in the next two movies, and at the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the story is definitely not complete. I'm really looking forward to exploring how it will grow, [and to] see what will happen after puberty. Yes, [they're] going to be exciting movies."

Truly, this has been an awesome day of Spidey news: not only has Sam Rami's classic 2002 original turned 15 years old, but now we've got more Tom Holland movies to look forward to. But how will future Spidey movies play into the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? We'll have to wait and see.
